Emotional Intelligence.
Technology is fascinating. People are more complicated — and far more interesting. Understanding ourselves and one another is part of lifelong learning.
Intelligence is more than information.
My interest in emotional and social intelligence grew alongside years of working with people, teaching students and exploring what influences our decisions and relationships.
Emotional intelligence asks questions that technology alone cannot answer: How well do we recognise our own feelings? How do we respond to someone else's experiences? How do empathy, self-awareness and communication shape the way we live and work?
I have learned that being technically capable and understanding people are different skills. Both matter.
The human side of my story ↗
Two connected sides, many points of understanding.
Self-awareness
Learning to recognise our own emotions and reactions.
Empathy
Trying to understand how another person sees the world.
Relationships
Listening, communicating and building real human connections.
Learning
Being willing to question what we think we know about ourselves.
The Quest research project.
My earlier website included material on emotional and social intelligence and a Quest research page. It forms part of my academic journey, and I want to preserve that history rather than lose it in a redesign.
The archived page here is informational. The original questionnaires and their data require the existing WordPress/database installation and have not been copied into this static site.
